K9 Ventures is pleased to welcome to its kennel, our latest portfolio company, iWalk, Inc. iWalk is founded by industry veterans Caesar Shepherd and Sarah Husky, both of who have 7x the experience in the space compared to any other hot dog. Mr. Shepherd completed his PhD (a dogtorate) from a top school in Munich, Germany. Ms. Husky recently moved to the Bay Area from Juneau, Alaska, from where she could see Siberia. She is fluent in Russian.
Caesar and Sarah recognized that now that Apple has already released the iPad2, and is presumably soon going to be releasing the iPhone 5, older iPhone and iPads will be going to the dogs. iWalk is, of course, an iPhone application for your dog’s newest toy — the iPhone. It uses the sensors on the phone, including the microphone, the location, time, and the weather at your location in the most innovative ways. When your dog barks, the application will use all this data that it has collected to determine whether it is time for your dog to check-in at the nearest fire hydrant, or make a deposit on the neighbors lawn.
If the app detects that it is indeed “time,” then it automatically posts a new task on TaskRabbit for a runner to come to your house. As a premium feature, the application can also automatically request a Hummer Limo by using Uber‘s API. And so that you know that your favorite four-legged friend isn’t cheating on you, it will also activate the Color app so that you can immediately see pictures of all the other canine companions your pet may be consorting with. Just in case there is a weather hazard such as the potential for slight drizzle or sunburn, the app can also get weather insurance for the vet trip from WeatherBill.
K9 Ventures is proud to be an investor in iWalk and we are even more pleased to have met the team, and done an uncapped convertible note with the company all before 5:00 PM on April Fools’ day.
